We do everything possible to ensure that your items will arrive on time and undamaged. As with all handmade crafts, no two pieces are the same, and, as a result, minor differences may exist from piece-to-piece. Each pattern is unique and showcases imperfections and the marks of the craftsman. Colours may also vary depending on the piece selected.  

Casa de Folklore's artisans from Vâlcea county Romania, honour Horezu pottery and have practiced the craft since childhood. Each piece is lovingly handmade in their home atelier using techniques that have been passed down through generations. The colours used are natural, made from local minerals and clays, then applied to the ceramics with cow horns and finetuned with wooden sticks. The technique is called „jirăvirea“. Each piece is shaped on a simple kick wheel and decorated with a traditional motif.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR CERAMICS: Taking the time to care for your ceramics will not only help maintain their vibrant colours but also prolong their lifespan. By opting to wash your ceramics by hand with warm water and a gentle detergent, you are giving them the extra TLC they deserve. Since many of our pieces feature unglazed bases, it is crucial to allow each item to air dry completely before stacking them away. This step ensures that the clay has ample time to dry out fully, preventing any potential damage. Embracing these simple yet effective care tips will preserve the beauty of your ceramics for years to come.
